About Sanctuare

Sanctuare was founded in 1973 by William Faber, the former executive vice president of Laurance Rockefeller’s resort company, Rockresorts.

Owner and President of Sanctuare from 1998 to 2024 was John Steinle. Mr. Steinle is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Columbia University Graduate School of Business, and had a twenty-year career with Rockresorts before acquiring Sanctuare.

Owner and president of Sanctuare is JJ McDonough. A graduate of Florida Atlantic University, he has successfully operated and sold several travel hospitality businesses, and has been connecting people to ultra-exclusive destinations since 2000. JJ’s experience in the high net-worth space is what has set Leeward Luxury apart, and what has allowed it to provide world-class service to the most discerning clients.

Sanctuare now represents approximately 40 vacation residences around the world. These properties are privately owned and are not part of any chain. Each has a distinctive personality, but together they share the highest of service standards. Common to all are their locations in wonderfully private destinations, which means that guests enjoy an experience of unusual quiet, natural beauty and serenity. Indeed, Sanctuare’s properties are rented in their entirety to just one family or group at a time, providing the ultimate in privacy for that most special gathering.
