Gardens | Tennis Court | Pool | Library | 60 Acres | Full Staff

High on a hill overlooking majestic Lake Trasimeno, this majestic property was once a Capuchin convent dating back to the 16th century. It has been painstakingly restored under the guidance of its owner, filmmaker George Lucas. Ten bedroom suites, along with gathering and dining areas, are on three floors. There are magnificent gardens, a tennis court, a large pool and dining terraces within its sixty acres. Its professional husband/wife managers lead a seasoned staff in providing world-class service. On three floors, all bedroom suites have individually controlled heating and air-conditioning, and a variety of conveniences like satellite TV with Kaleidescape entertainment and Geneva sound systems. Bathrooms have double sinks and separate, modern showers and tubs. There are comfortable, beautifully furnished gathering and dining spaces throughout the house and outside, under awnings and natural tree cover; the most elegant space —with seating for 40 — is perhaps in the two-story Library. A superb games room has both billiards and table shuffleboard. The grounds and gardens, all sixty acres, are inviting places to stroll, sit and relax, with their tidy vineyards and ancient olive trees. Lawn bowling and croquet are available, and the 60-foot swimming pool and tennis court overlook the gardens. For guests hungry to sample the Umbrian (as well as the just-adjacent Tuscan) countryside, the options are numerous: for example, Assisi is 30 minutes’ drive, Cortona is 50 minutes and Montepulciano is 60 minutes.
