Near Siena, Tuscany, Italy
Villa Cerbaia sits on a larger, grand estate dating back to the 1680’s. A charming, seven-bedroom farmhouse with amenities of the highest standards, it is just 20 minutes from historic Siena. Guests enjoy beautiful views from lawns, the large swimming pool, dining gazebos and fieldstone terraces. This is a wonderfully warm and surprisingly affordable Tuscany rental option which, extraordinarily, includes the services of a chef for one meal each day.

Location and Surroundings:
Just outside the village of Sovicille, Villa Cerbaia is about 1 1/4 hour drive from Florence and its airport. Siena is just 15 minutes away, and there are countless interesting Tuscan villages within an hour, including Gimignano, Colle val d’Elsa and Cortona. Siena itself, with its cathedrals, art museums, and grand circular “square”, also provides world-class and artisanal shopping. The estate on which Cerbaia sits has a tennis court and miles of hiking and walking trails including one to a hilltop monastery built for the nephew of Pope Alexander II.
All of Villa Cerbaia’s bedrooms except two have their own private bathrooms. Most have four-poster beds and all use the finest Italian linens. For gathering spaces, there is nothing like the oversized kitchen/family room which, during warm weather months, is open-air. Outside there are shaded terraces overlooking the surrounding hills, farms and vineyards, as well as a poolside gazebo for dining.
Experience and Activities:
Cerbaia is extraordinarily comfortable. With the chef there for part of the day to prepare the meal chosen by the guests for that day, and with the inside and outside gathering spaces so near to the kitchen, Cerbaia really feels like a home away from home. The swimming pool is unusually large for a modest home and enjoys the property’s best views. There’s a ping pong table for any takers. The convenience of nearby villages, and of Siena and Florence, makes for a perfect combination of “touristy” options and indulgent homey relaxation.
