| The Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat is one of the truly grand dames of the Cote dAzur, designed and furnished in an elegantly classical style. Dating back to 1908, it sits high above the Mediterranean, with manicured lawns and gardens sloping gradually from the outside dining terrace to a funicular that carries guests to a large invisible-edge pool at the seaside cliffs. The gardens at Cap-Ferrat are said to be the most extensive and beautiful of any on the Riviera. Interiors are elegant and old-world, with original murals depicting the hotels signature porpoise, gardens and birdlife. Yet, despite the sense of grandeur, the scale and feeling of the Hotel is very welcoming and personal. Only 53 rooms and suites make it so.
Despite the hotels distinctively old-world ambiance, the recently re-done guest rooms have every modern convenience, such as remote-controlled curtains, cable television, telephones in both bedroom and bath, remote temperature control, and voice mail. Fabrics are of the finest quality, and bed and bath linen of the highest threadcount. Baths display stunning one-of-a-kind selections of marble. Views from the seaview rooms are dazzling, and from pineview rooms they remind one of the French countryside.
At Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, the concierge can arrange for a variety of activities, from tennis at the Hotel to water-skiing, bikes to explore the lovely St. Jean du Cap-Ferrat area, or golf at a number of nearby courses.
There are three dining rooms and areas, including the formal Le Cap restaurant, which pampers those with the highest expectations. Al fresco dining is available on the majestic terraces shaded by seemingly ancient parasol pine trees, with a panoramic view of the Mediterranean. And at poolside, there is the Club Dauphin, a seafront oasis reached by private funicular.
The Grand-Hotel-du-Cap-Ferrat has been named by Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report readers as one of the top 20 small international resorts, as well as Travel & Leisure magazine's Top Ten Hotels in Europe. High season at Cap-Ferrat is from the end of may to the middle of September. The months on either side of the summer are lovely and somewhat cooler, and during the months of March, April, October, November and December the hotel provides an ambiance of lovely serenity. The rates shown below include tax and service, but do not include a 1.50Є per person per day city tax.
