The
Horned Dorset Primavera is a tiny, secret-of-a-hotel on the quiet, undeveloped
western coast of Puerto Rico. It is a world-class, Relais et Chateaux
hotel that has become a favorite weekend retreat for the island's professional
and social elite. Its restaurant is probably the island's, and possibly
the Caribbean's finest. Decorated with antiques, roofed in red tiles and
clustered in small groups like a Mediterranean village, its guest rooms
are no less a feature of this hotel than its dining. According to Conde
Nast Traveler, The Horned Dorset has "...the highest rated rooms
and hotel restaurant in the Americas." Both the guest rooms and dining
room sit right on a sea wall.

On the quiet western coast of Puerto Rico, The Horned Dorset is a world
away from the hustle and bustle of the Caribbean's highly developed tourist
spots. It is just south of the village of Rincon, which is a drive of
about two scenic hours from the San Juan International Airport. Flights
are also available to Puerto Rico's Aguadilla Airport, which is about 30
minutes away from the hotel.

The
Horned Dorset is pleased to announce the completion of 22 new deluxe oceanfront
suites in November 2002. Each is a duplex including a large living area,
terrace, private pool and a second floor bedroom and bath. The spacious
1400 square feet of marble floors, colonial teak furnishing and quality
fixtures makes each suite an outstanding statement of luxury, second to
none in the Caribbean.

Quite by design, there are no formal activities at The Horned Dorset.
Lounging and swimming at the secluded beach, strolling the grounds (recognized
for excellence by the New York Horticultural Society) or taking quiet
time on one's own ocean-view terrace is activity enough for many guests.
For those who want more walking, the hotel's beach connects to a long
and beautiful three-mile stretch of deserted public beach. Or the reception
can arrange for sea kayaking, deep-sea fishing, golf (Dwight Eisenhower's
favorite course is nearby), or excursions by car to the historic town
of Ponce, a 19th -century coffee plantation or 800 year-old Indian ceremonial
grounds nearby. But mostly The Horned Dorset is for people who want quiet
time with their partner in a romantic setting, with world-class dining.

The Horned Dorset dining experience is reason enough to visit, with Chef
Aaron Wratten at the helm in the kitchen. Chef Wratten's experience includes
New York City's Aureole and Restaurant Daniel. His creations, in combination
with the handsome room with white-and-black marble floor, original art
and elegant silver service, constitute perhaps the finest dining experience
in the Caribbean. Abundant candlelight complements the remarkable five
course prix fixe dinner, which is for many guests the highlight of their
day. Pre-dinner cocktails are taken on the verandah, just steps from the
water, or in the intimate library bar "hosted" by the hotel's
resident talking bird Pompidoux. Evening wear, reflecting the romantic
ambiance and fine cuisine, tends to be more dressy than casual.

Breakfast
at The Horned Dorset is on the open-air verandah, with a wide variety
of fresh local fruits and homemade pastries, and lunch is around the extra-long
swimming pool at the foot of the twin curved staircases that lead up to
the second-floor dining room.
